Headlining the upcoming 2026 BBC Proms are some of the most prominent pianists of classical music today. The summer classical music festival held at the Royal Albert Hall in London will span the months of July to September.
Among the event’s heavy hitters is South Korean pianist Yunchan Lim, who will be performing in the First Night of the Proms on July 12. Lim had made headlines in 2022 after he won First Prize at the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition at just the age of 18, making him the youngest person to do so. Joining Lim will be conductor Dalia Stasevska, who will be conducting Ravel’s Concerto in G major with the BBC Symphony Orchestra. The evening will also feature music by Aaron Copland, George Gershwin, Gerald Finzi, and Josephine Stephenson.
On September 5, Martha Argerich will grace the halls with her rendition of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2 alongside conductor Lahav Shani and the Munich Philharmonic. Often hailed as the “greatest living pianist,” Argerich’s reputation needs no introduction. She will perform after the concert opener, Louise Farrenc’s Overture No. 2. Ending the evening will be Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 in E minor.
Ending the season with the Last Night of the Proms 2026 will be pianist Yuja Wang. Like Argerich, Wang’s reputation is virtually known throughout the classical music world, owing to her glamorous dresses and stage presence that accompany an equally astounding piano playing. On September 12, Wang will be joined by tenor Nicky Spence, conductor Sakari Oramo, and the combined forces of the BBC Singers, BBC Symphony Chorus, and BBC Symphony Orchestra.
